Exports of Italian Wine to China Grow

Export volume of Italian wines to China has grown in recent years, reports China Daily. Italy is now the fourth largest wine exporting country to China, with total value of exports reaching $55.6 million, up 62.8 percent year-over-year.

In 2017, Italy exported $161 million worth of wine to China, reaching an all-time high, according to the Italy Trade Agency.

Vinitaly has seen a 34 percent increase in trade professionals from China in 2018, compared to the previous year. And a growing number of Italian wine producers, brand ambassadors, and exporters are going to Chinese cities that previously were not familiar to foreigners.

The head of Vinitaly's Shanghai office sees Italian wine as a "comeback kid" in China, as sales have been growing, and Chinese consumers are taking an open-minded attitude to alternative tastes, according to the report. Full Story
